The assassin of Martin Luther King was arrested at Heathrow Airport

James Earl Ray, the notorious assassin of Martin Luther King, was finally tracked down to London and arrested at Heathrow Airport on 8 June 1968.

A subtle commemoration of Charles I

You have to really strain to see it, and even then it could just be a spot of soot that hasn’t been cleaned. The clock face on the tower of Horse Guards has a black mark behind the numeral II. This is to commemorate the execution of Charles I, who was beheaded at 2pm on 30 January 1649
